We are going on a weekend trip to Barnwell State Park. This will be our second stop on our Ultimate Outsider list. As I was getting everything ready and making lists I thought I would share my process of packing up and making sure we have everything. Thankfully we keep our RV in our backyard, so during the week I can pack stuff as I go instead of having to carry it to another place.
The first thing I plan is our clothes. To do that we always check out the weather for where we are going and, we think about what we will be doing while we are there. This weekend the weather is going to be beautiful and warm which is going to be amazing. I gather mine and my husbands clothes and my daughter gets her own and has them approved. We keep a few spare items of clothing in the RV; like socks, under wear, jackets, and “play clothes”.
I also like to plan the food ahead of time so I can hit up Costco before hand. Friday night we will be having BBQ sandwiches from when we killed one of our pigs this past fall. Along with the BBQ sandwiches we will be having cole-slaw and roasting marsh-mellows. Saturday morning I am going to make sausage and potato breakfast hash. Lunch time will be simple pb&j sandwiches, with blueberries and strawberries. And for dinner we will be having Christy Jordan’s Slow Cooker Cheesy Chicken and Rice , it is one of my favorite crockpot recipes. I plan on having everything ready to plop in the crockpot Saturday morning already cut up and diced. Hopefully I will be able to take some pictures and do another blog post with the recipes.
Of course as everyone knows South Carolina Men’s Basketball team is playing in the Final Four Saturday evening, so we will HAVE to be watching that. GO GAMECOCKS!! For that we have an older RCA tv that I have an HDMI to RCA adapter so we can plug in our Apple TV and watch the game. We bought Star Wars Rogue One on Saturday so we might end up watching that again as well.
We keep a set of clean towels in the RV at all times along with a set of bathroom essentials, like shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, and tooth brushes. We also keep plates, cups, coffee, and a few other staple items in the kitchen. For Mily, we keep a bag of her toys in one of the cabinets, along with sand toys in one of the storage areas under the RV.
We are still newbies at this and are always learning. How we do things this time might be completely different then a year from now. We are always wanting advice that we can put to use, so leave us a comment with your favorite tip or trick to make sure you have everything. Who knows I might decide cooking while I am camping isn’t how I want to spend my time and we heat everything up in the microwave instead.
You can follow us on Instagram where I post pictures through out the week . Also you can get the items we have purchased for our RV through Amazon.
